MODERN ZEN
"The danger in doing a modern bathroom is that it can feel cold," says Pamela Butz, that remodeled this house near Boston with partner Jeffrey Klug. Their solution was a layout that errs on the side of simplicity, but with beautiful, natural substances that "speak for themselves."
NAUTICAL FINISHES
For his Nantucket house's master bath, designer Gary McBournie chose Waterworks hardware in unlacquered brass, so that it might tarnish and age. His goal was to tie back all the details to the house's nautical feeling.
SUSPENDED MIRROR
In an Atlanta family residence, the downstairs bathroom includes a pragmatic Oak Hill DXV console sink, which designer Matthew Quinn notes is both elegant and durable. The shower and bathroom are concealed from the Portico collection of Sunbrella fabrics of Thibaut behind curtains in Cabana Cloth. Solitude is allowed for by suspending a mirror in front of the window.
FRESH CITRUS
The powder room's existing citrus-yellow background within this colorful home appears even fresher with the addition of a window color in a chartreuse-yellow silk, trimmed in Barbara Barry's Tang Tassel -- equally by Krave.
SEE-THROUGH VANITY
Since there's no need to ditch regular necessities beneath a powder room sink, the vanity becomes strictly a statement piece. A Lucite-framed mirror in a zingy yellow continues the subject of transparency.
